The Melbourne Vixens will return to their home court to take on arch rivals, the NSW Swifts, in Round 3 action of Suncorp Super Netball.
The Vixens will be looking to bounce-back from their Round 2 defeat, whilst the Swifts are on high confidence after beating the Adelaide Thunderbirds by 10 goals.
The Swifts currently sit third on the Super Netball ladder with one win, whilst the Vixens sit fifth, with just percentage separating the two teams.
It’s not only ladder position that the teams are competing for, but for the pride of obtaining the Sargeant-McKinnis Cup, with this match being the first of two outings to determine the holder.
The Swifts have been the Vixens bogey team, with NSW winning 13 of the 19 match-ups between the two sides, and have currently won the last six official meetings.
However, with the Vixens retaining majority of their playing list from 2016, the team is poised to reclaim the bragging rights.
The teams are no strangers to each other this year, playing twice during the pre-season and claiming one win each.
However, with the Vixens missing Jo Weston and Emily Mannix, and the Swifts without Paige Hadley and Helen Housby, the results could be quite different.
The match between the Vixens and the Swifts will be played at Hisense Arena on Saturday 4 March at 8:45pm.
Live on Telstra TV, beginning at 1pm AEDT, Sunday 26 February.
