The Melbourne Vixens will host seven home games in the 2018 Suncorp Super Netball season, with four of the matches to be played on Sunday afternoon.
After the success of the Sunday home match against the Adelaide Thunderbirds in 2017, the added Sunday games are a welcome addition to our fixture.
“Our netball community loved the Sunday afternoon game against the Thunderbirds, it was a real hit being scheduled in at a more family friendly time,” said Netball Victoria Chief Executive Officer, Rosie King.
“We are really excited to have more of these games, as well as a reduced number of night matches, which we think will better suit our fans; particularly those who travel to the game from regional Victoria,” said King.
Along with the four Sunday games, the Vixens will also host three Saturday afternoon matches.
The Vixens will begin the season with three home games, hosting Magpies Netball, NSW Swifts and Queensland Firebirds in the opening rounds of the season.
“We had a great turnout to our opening game in 2017 against Magpies Netball – taking on our cross-town rivals in the opening match of the season helped create a sense of occasion and anticipation of the season. We look forward to doing this again in Round 1 2018, in front of a packed Hisense Arena full of fantastic netball fans,” said King.
The Melbourne Vixens 2018 season will begin on Saturday 28 April with a much-anticipated match against Magpies Netball at Hisense Arena.
