Netball Victoria is calling for hard working netball enthusiasts to be part of the 2012 Melbourne Vixens volunteer team.
Volunteers are needed to assist at Melbourne Vixens home games in a number of different roles from technical to customer service.
Liz Upton is one of Netball Victorias longest serving volunteers and says after fifteen years working behind the scenes at match days and club events, she is still addicted to the thrill of being part of a sport she loves and enjoys.
"It gives me great satisfaction to support an organisation that strives to produce high quality match days and promote healthy well rounded elite athletes as excellent role models for young sporting fans.
During my time as a Netball Victoria and Melbourne Vixens volunteer, Ive made great friendships, had loads of laughs, achieved personal satisfaction and a feeling of being needed and appreciated,"Upton says.
Upton was part of the Delhi Commonwealth Games; an experience she says would never have happened if she wasnt a Netball Victoria volunteer.
These sentiments are shared by another dedicated volunteer and self-confessed "netball junkie", Carmel Wright who has offered her time for over fourteen years.
"Volunteering is an opportunity to give back to a sport that is my passion. I enjoy the excitement of match days and working with people who love netball as much as I do there is a special sense of camaraderie," Wright says.
After Wrights volunteer work led to involvement in two Commonwealth Games, she says she "wouldnt give it up for the world."
