After being put through their paces at the preseason
training camp, the Vixens are well and truly in preparation mode for the 2012
ANZ Championship season starting on April 1st 2012, in Brisbane.
Netball was put on the back burner for a short time while
the team enjoyed a well-deserved break over Christmas. We asked some of the players
to share their favourite summer holiday moment.
Geva Mentor:
"I shared a wonderful Christmas day with a good Aussie
family in Sydney with my Mum and brother who were over from the UK. My
favourite moment from the festive break would be surfing with my friends and
brother on a beautiful New Years Eve day up in Byron. We hung out and
chilled while everyone was rushing around us getting ready for the nights
celebration. It was quite special moment, like we'd paused time just to take a
breath and enjoy the now, saying goodbye to 2011.
Julie Corletto:
"My favourite memory is probably is in two parts - I spent an amazing two months in New Zealand before Christmas. I met some great people and saw a different side of NZ than I normally do when travelling with Netball; it's such a beautiful country. I returned home for a few days over Christmas and that was brilliant catching up with family and friends. My Christmas Day highlight was watching my niece Kari & nephew Jay open their presents their excitement put a smile on everyones faces. That's what Christmas is all about."
Tegan Caldwell:
"The highlight of my holiday was just spending the time with
family and friends down at beautiful Anglesea and hitting the beach!"
Bianca Chatfield:
"My favourite moment of the holiday was spending time down
at Somers (Mornington Peninsula) with my family, out on the waveski surrounded
by dolphins! It was amazing!"
Kara Richards:
"I spent my holiday on the Peninsula the entire time at my family home. I had many enjoyable moments over the festive period like relaxing on the beach, visiting wineries and introducing babycino's to my little nieces. One funny moment was capsizing my boyfriend off a kayak whilst trying to get back in after having a quick dip against his wishes."
Madison Browne:
"My favourite holiday moments were relaxing on the beach
with friends and family, soaking up the sun and catching lots of waves. I also
loved participating in the Lorne Mountain to Surf and Pier to Pub."
Kate Beveridge:
"My favourite moment from my Christmas break was bathing my
two month old nephew Nate for the first time."
Sharelle McMahon:
"A huge highlight for me over the festive season was
catching up with family who I don't get to see much throughout the year. Also,
my swim in the waves at Portsea beach following 18 holes of golf at
Portsea Pro-am, in the 40 degree heat, was one of the best swims I
have EVER had in my life!"
